SURIN, April 30 (Bernama) -- The border clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops near Thailand's northeastern Surin Province resumed on Saturday morning after Friday night's skirmishes which injured four more Thai soldiers, Thai News Agency reports Saturday.

The latest crossfire marked the ninth straight day of fighting between the two neighbours, which erupted on April 22 and has killed at least 16 people and injured more than two dozens others of both sides.

While forcing more than 48,000 affected villagers to flee to temporary shelters.

The border clashes overnight resumed even after a truce agreed between the two countries' regional army commanders on Thursday.

Thai and Cambodian border troops have clashed six times since 2008 over unsettled border issues related to the Preah Vihear Temple.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said that the border rows between Thailand and Cambodia would be discussed at the upcoming Asean Summit slated on May 7-8 in Jakarta.

As the rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) currently, Indonesia has proposed dialogues to end the border disputes between Thailand and Cambodia.

Both Bangkok and Phnom Penh have agreed to settle their border disputes through peaceful means.
